Weight Loss Motivation

You have attempted to lose weight by following some diets — most likely, you’ve lost some weight. If you’re like the average dieter you’ve noticed that you gain that weight back plus a little bit more. You may think that your diet program isn’t working — while this may be true, it may just mean your plan isn’t sustainable.
In most cases though, it comes down to a lack of motivation.
When you first start on your weight loss program, motivation is extremely high. Initially, you’ll lose some weight and you’ll like the way you feel. People will comment on how great you’re doing with your diet and then eventually, the invevitable will happen. Your motivation will begin to wane and you begin to return to your old poor eating and lack of exercise habits.
Most experts say that 80% of losing weight has to do with nutrition and what you eat as opposed to 20% of physical activity. I suggest that 40% is nutrition, 20% is fitness, and the rest is mental. A mental approach with strength, determination, and motivation to continue your weight loss journey will give you the body you want.
Some mental aspects and motivating factors you can keep in mind are the following:
- Read and surround yourself with information relating to nutrition, fitness, and health. Fill your mind with this kind of information like you would a hobby — your body and mind will want to use the information you read. This is extremely effective.
- Visualize yourself as a healthy, more healthy person. Ignore the person you see in the mirror, just don’t forget about your goal. You will begin to lead yourself into the weight you want.
- Accept responsbility for you and you alone being the reason for your weight gain. When you are able to take responsbility for your past terrible diets and lack of physical activity, you can then take control of the situation and fix it. Forgive yourself.
