Regardless of the way you do it, you can lose weight by following a few basic guidelines that everyone looking to lose weight should follow.

Eat right. Eat smart.  You don’t need to overeat — going up for two or three huge trips at the chinese buffet would classify you as a poor eater.  You also don’t need to eat candy, sugar-laden foods, etc., as appetizers.  Everything is fine in moderation, but when you bulge, have no self control, and are just a sloppy eat you’ll gain weight and never lose it.

Get exercise. It doesn’t matter how you do it — at the gym, on the basketball court, running around with your dogs in the backyard, you have to be physical.  No fad diet or expensive weight loss program will you do any good unless you are physical.  That doesn’t mean you need to run on a treadmill an hour a day of everyday (though it’d help you lose weight), you just need to get moving.

Consider supplements. Talk to your doctor and consider taking nutritional supplements.  When you’re first starting out on your diet and even years down the road, consider using supplements to help get all the vitamins and nutrients that you’re lacking from your diet.  A general multi-vitamin should be a good supplement to start on, and depending on your needs, you may way to consider Elite Gourmet Whey Protein.

Have a gameplan. You need to prepare your next day today.  Before you go to bed, know what kind of physical activity you’re going to do tomorrow.  If you don’t plan it into your day, you can easily find excuses on why you don’t have enough time to workout.  The same goes to food — if you don’t prepare a healthy lunch at home and take it to work, you will be easily tempted to go eat with your co-workers at the local grease joint.

Have a game plan, workout, and eat healthy — you’ll lose weight.
