Fitness Guide for Busy Moms
Posted on Dec 19, 2008 under General Weight Loss |It’s easy for busy mothers to feel like there isn’t enough time in the day for a healthy lifestyle. Balancing kids, work, the home, and your life is a daunting task on a daily basis — it makes sitting in a gym for an hour running on a treadmill seem impossible. However, there’s good news — with just a little daily effort, you can achieve a good, balanced lifestyle without adding even more to your already busy schedule.
Go slow!
You don’t need to go out and run a marathon as soon as you start exercising. Do whatever you can handle, even if you don’t think it’s doing you a lot of good — it is! Go walk around the block, run around the backward with the dog for a few minutes, whatever! Step it up a notch!
As you begin to get used to walking and jogging and building some endurance, consider moving up your exercises. Your body is becoming stronger and the only way for you to keep losing weight is to keep adding resistance. If you’ve been jogging 10 minutes a day, start jogging 20.
Massage your muscles!
You want to relax your muscles before and after workouts by doing stretches. After you’re done exercising, have a cool down period that allows your muscles to relax. If you’d like, take a nice warm bath after a workout or before bedtime. This not only keeps your muscles well conditioned and allows them to recover, but it gives you an incentive to workout everyday.
Supplements!
If you can’t have a well-balanced meal everyday, consider taking supplements. You can choose a multi-vitamin like Opti-Women MultiVitamin to make sure you get all the vitamins and minerals your body needs to be healthy. Even if you already have a healthy diet, if you don’t have a daily balance of all the necessary food groups, your body is going without!
