B vitamins & magnesium boost your metabolism

Taking B-vitamins and magnesiums are great ways to do just that. B vitamins, for example, plays a crucial ray in the synthesis of DNA, the central nervous system in your body, as well as the metabolism of carbs, fats, and protein. It also helps control energy production.

Because of the wide array of roles b-vitamins play in your body, if you’re deficient in B6, B12, thiamin, folate, or niacin, your body can make you feel depressed and fatigued, in addition to slowing your body’s metabolism while increasing your chances of acquiring chronic diseases.  It’s recommended to get your B-vitamins from foods, as they commonly pair up with other vitamins and minerals there and it creates a synergy of action.  You can acquire B vitamins from asparagus, beans, spinach, broccoli, fish, melon, poultry, and egs.

Of course, if your diet lacks B-vitamins, you can always acquire them from supplements.

Magnesium on the other hand is an extremely important mineral.  It’s required for every cell in your body to function and plays a role in more than 300 biochemical reactions within your body.  Some of these functions includes the proper functioning of your nerves, brain, and muscles, as well as energy metabolism and protein synthesis.

The NIH, or National Institutes of Health says that most Americans do not receive enough magnesium in their diets.  This means that you must increase the intake of foods that contain magnesium, in addition to supplementing.  Food sources that you can acquire magnesium from include halibut, almonds, whole-grain cereals, and oatmeal just to name a few.
